This is a picture of David seeing the records of his grandparents birth and marriage for the first time. It was a very special moment for him and for me.
Sometimes when we embark on a new journey it seems to go so slowly, but if we look at our progress we can see how far we have come.
David & I have been on a journey since December 2023. It began with a desire to know more about his family heritage. Next we learned the possibility of a dual citizenship. So we began to study Hungarian using a phone app and we made plans to visit the small village of Olaszliszka where his grandparents were born. We took a one week vacation May 2024. There we found the records in 2 very old still thriving churches. One was the 700 year old Catholic Church and the other the Reformed Church who will celebrate 500 years of faith next year. We were so inspired, we came home and took a leap of faith by marketing our home. It sold. We also divested ourselves of most of our personal property. Some things went to storage to ship later. I knew how this worked from growing up in a military family. We came back to Hungary August 1 and rented a studio apartment. We made appointments with a lawyer, a realtor and a relocation specialist who is also a translator. Then we found our dream home, a new build about 1 hour from his family’s historic church. We moved into our home mid October. The house came mostly furnished. This was great as our furniture did not arrive until December. And we came with only 4 suitcases of clothes, a laptop and a few very important documents. We also acquired a car with help from our relocation specialist. Now we are starting a business and plan to offer business consulting to small businesses and ESL tutoring. We named our business DoveTail Office Consulting kft. We selected the name because doves symbolize peace. A dovetail is a strong way to join wood furniture and it also refers to strong business connections. We hope this business will help us connect with people not only about business matters, but also to share our faith journey.
Whether you are on a journey that requires actual travel; or one that is something else, like changing jobs or becoming older and less independent. Maybe it is a health journey. We all are traveling in one manor or another. We are all walking by faith in some way.
May you have peace on your journey!
