What is happening in the USA? In our education and in the public forum?
By definition woke should be the past tense of wake.
To wake=to finish sleeping, Past: He woke up yesterday.
Urban dictionary slang meaning:
to be awake to sensitive social issues, such as racism.
This sounds like a good thing, but has been carried to the extreme where other voices have been shut down.
Our schools have told students to keep secrets from parents and worse they have tried to silence free speech. When my kids were little I shared with them they should tell me or their dad if anyone ever treated them that way and told them to keep silent, which undermines parental authority. It was then I learned a pedophile had attacked my child. Seems to me the public education system is engaging in similar activity.
